Reflections of May 6, 2018

Jonah was a walking contradiction; he is an anti-hero! He was devoted to God, yet he ran from God. He submitted to God, then sulked when he didn't get his way. In the Book of Jonah, we discover the grace of God that is stronger than all our anxieties, disappointments, anger, and wandering affections.

“Jonah Runs”

Pastor Mark Stiglicz

Jonah 1:1–3

The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: "Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me." But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.

Psalm 139:7-10

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

Rally your small group, church friends, and all in your sphere of influence as we would love for every person to attend.

Mission Week Training

This summer we will be doing a mission trip to our city and like any short-term mission trip there is training to be done to prepare for it. Please plan to attend if any of the following are true for you:

  1. You know you should share your faith more
  2. You want to be equipped to share the Gospel
  3. It’s time to step outside of your comfort zone
  4. You have a desire to be used by the Lord
